Karen (Borup) Heaton
I Karen Heaton will now attempt to sum up ten years of my life as quickly as possible. After high school I went to Ricks College for 2 years. Ricks college was a lot like High School with no parents and more rules. I don't really remember sleeping our studying but I did survive and made it out alive and single. This picture was taken my first day of college. After my two year stint of college I prayerfully decided to go on a mission. I was blessed to be called to serve in the Australia Adelaide mission. I spent about half of my mission living on a beautiful island named Kangaroo Island. It was very rural with dirt roads and wildlife galore. I saw my share of Australian wildlife. Mostly in the form of road kill.
It was an amazing adventure. I learned so much about myself. I have a greater understanding of what it takes to truly be happy. I eagerly await the day when I can return and visit some of my life long friends. After my mission my older sister convinced me to move to Utah and live with her and her family. I got a job working as a personal aid to an eight year old Autistic boy. I had the opportunity to retake first and second grade. It was challenging but also very rewarding. It was during this time that I met my husband Matthew. After some time we dated and eventually married. Together we decided that he would enter the military. My husband serves as a Chinese linguist in the United States Air Force. Since our marriage four years ago we have lived in Idaho, California, Texas, and Hawaii. It is an honor to be a military wife. We are currently living in Hawaii on Oahu. We purchased a condo here and have spent a lot of time remodeling. It's been an adjustment living in 800 SF with no storage space or yard. I guess I was spoiled growing up in Idaho. I can't complain because I see large families living in smaller spaces. My life at the moment is pretty simple. I stay very busy with church responsibilities. I work from home part time babysitting. We have no children of our own yet but that is the plan. Hawaii is a beautiful place to live and I try to appreciate it's beauty every day. I look forward to future posts from all of you. It's fun to see how everyone is doing. As for myself life is great. My life is filled with much happiness. Aloha
